Opportunity Works, led by Anchor of Hope International Ministries Inc. through the Green Works LA Sustainable Jobs Consortium, is dedicated to advancing environmental justice and expanding access to the green economy for underserved communities. Through community-driven partnerships with local agencies, schools, trade organizations, employers and community-based organizations, the consortium provides education, training and resources that prepare residents for careers in renewable energy, clean technology and sustainable practices. Building on 15 years of experience advocating for job training and placement for disadvantaged adults and youth, including individuals impacted by the criminal justice system, Opportunity Works creates equitable pathways into green careers while helping communities build long-term economic opportunity and climate resilience.

The GRIT Foundation is dedicated to empowering the next generation with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities to thrive in the skilled trades. Through hands-on, community-driven programs like GRIT Camps, the foundation connects youth with skilled trades professionals who serve as mentors, guiding participants through real-world experiences in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and more.

  3. On page two, fill out the “Academic Information” form
  4. Upload a transcript from your current or most recent school
  5. Upload a reference letter if you chose
  6. List your honors/awards and extracurricular activities if you choose and click next
  7. On page three, submit a essay or video telling us why you are interested in HVAC
  8. Upload a recent headshot
  9. Tell us which social media profile you use most if you choose
  10. Click submit and you’re done!

Eligibility Requirements

  • US Citizens, US Nationals, US Permanent Residents based on the guidelines utilized by the US Department of Education Federal Financial Aid eligibility, that reside in the LA area.
  • Minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, with high school diploma (or equivalent) completed by Online Program Completion date (September 2026) and opportunity youth interested in the online HVAC technical program.
  • Veterans, the justice impacted, and career changers are encouraged to apply.
  • Preference will be given to applicants ages 17-26.

Selection Criteria

Scholarships will be awarded based on eligibility requirements, academic merit, and interest of pursuing a career in residential HVAC contracting. Applicants will be asked to explain what inspired them to choose an HVAC technical education and their plans after graduation.
